All around the country there are hundreds of Greek organizations spread among college campuses. For some college students it may be the ultimate college dream to join a fraternity or sorority. In movies like “Neighbors” and “House Bunny” fraternity and sorority life in college is typically portrayed as the stereotype of being one big party all the time. Through social media outsiders may see joining a fraternity or sorority as a way of “buying” your friendships. Some may even have a fear of Greek life from hearing of hazing incidents and deaths. But with these portrayals of Greek Life people get the wrong ideas of what it is really is about. Greek Life can build friendships, knowledge, and skills needed for life in and after college. There can be many reasons to join and many reasons to not join Greek life. Although the stereotypes and media attention towards Greek life is commonly negative, with the right motivations, Greek Life on college campuses can prepare and lead one to a successful life.

Greek life allows for a “learning curve that leads us to adult life” that people in this age range may not be ready for. Being in a Greek organization allows for members to hold leadership positions where they may gain experience for jobs in their future. Holding a position in the greek community calls for a growth in skills of time management, responsibility, and organization.In a survey conducted by Gallup more than 30,000 college students were “more likely to be "thriving" in their well-being and engaged at work than college graduates who did not go Greek”.
