When people go into a profession knowing the expectations and morals of the job, they shouldn’t have to be versed that the rules have changed. Teachers are one of the most important roles played in our society. They show the future adults of the world how to be a morally good person. But now new purpose is being put on them, physically protecting the students. Though there have been seventeen school shootings since the beginning of 2018, arming teachers wouldn't make the situation better. Many NRA supporters promote under the banner of fear, the need to arm the teachers and to protect the students. Despite the controversial idea of arming teachers, the answer is clear. It could even also put others at risk. Teachers should not be armed because their job is to enlighten and teach but shouldn’t have to feel they have to take a bullet their students.

Teachers go into teaching guiding children to develop skills and to think critically to be successful later in life. They get to shape our future world by showing the children how to be role models and how to be ethical. The first reasoning that makes this a hazardous choice is that majority of teachers aren't trained in shooting a gun or even know how to pull a trigger. One reason that arming a teacher isn't a sound choice is that majority of teachers aren't trained in shooting a gun. Not all teachers are even responsible enough to carry a weapon, especially in a high-stress situation. The real responsibilities of teachers are to help students become knowable and critical thinkers. So to demand a teacher to protect with guns goes against what a teachers morals, job, and life expertise follow. Despite people knowing what the role of teachers is, some are still pushing to equip guns even though knowing the two don’t blend, especially in a school location.
