Do you think Paula Deen should be banned from TV completely or is the public being too harsh? Is she a racist now for having used the N word during the 1960? When the Paula Deen situation occurred I was enraged. I first heard about it through the television show The View. I heard about the fact that she wanted to have a plantation style wedding for her brother. “She wanted the wait staff to be middle aged black men, wearing white coats and black bow ties”. My jaw dropped. I could not believe what I was hearing. I instantly had such dislike and anger towards this woman. Upon doing research for this week’s discussion I learned the law suit that was brought against her for sexual harassment and discrimination were thrown out. Paula did admit to using the N …show more content…
It was in one instance after she was held at gun point by an African American man. She described the incident to her husband and used the derogatory term. When she was asked under oath during deposition, she admitted to this terrible transgression. Initially my gut reaction to this week’s question was –yes, she should be banned from TV completely. Upon further consideration I decided she should not be banned. As long as she has apologized and does not show signs of ever committing such an erroneous act again, she should be given a second chance. If we can allow certain people into political positions after the things they have said and done how can we hold a celebrity to a higher standard. Is she a racist now for having used the N word during the 1960? I can’t answer that question. I have never interacted with this woman a day in my life. I learned this week that she is a 70 year old woman from Savannah Georgia. I am sure life was very, very different 70 years ago in the Deep South. Is she ignorant? Absolutely! Is

This past week, Comedian Kathy Griffin has been facing some serious controversy regarding a photo shoot she participated in. In this photoshoot, Griffin was holding a bloody, decapitated head that was intended to look like President Trump. These photos have not only upset President Trump, but also his family and supporters as well. Despite the freedoms listed in the first amendment, what Griffin published was not justly protected by this amendment.
It has been around for a Many can observe one thing from our modern day society, and it is that celebrities and powerful companies influence everyone. Therefore, when famous rappers say the n-word in their songs, there is not a large problem. However, just because these words
I consider that it is outrageous that Jane Elliot continues till this day conducting the blue/ brown eyes experiment (with adults). I continue with my argument, Jane Elliot is not presenting the problem properly. At the time of racial segregation I could make an exception to understand her experiment. But what type of excuse she has now. In the video: How Racist Are You?
Discrimination When people think of discrimination, the Holocaust comes to mind, but there are many more examples and ways of discriminating against others. This issue has been going on for centuries, and it is still a problem in today’s world. Discrimination is the isolating of others because of race, intelligence, and/or religion.
The shows foundation began to be seen as offensive on account of it’s portrayal of blacked up characters behaving in a over the top clichéd and stereotypical manner. The BBC received a petition not much later, demanding the show be changed or taken off air, in 1967. There was a organization titled the ‘Campaign Against Racial Discrimination’, which used the petition to suggest that the show be taken off air. “It causes much distress to most coloured people” to which the BBC then responded quite tactlessly: “The corporation has a strict attitude about the presentation of racialism in its programmes and we do not think The Black and White Minstrel Show offended in this way. The show is not about race.

“White isn't a race, its a state of mind”, stated by Rachael Dolezal. It could be a common question people ask you in a social or private conversation. All human beings are born a certain race depending on what their birth parents ethnicity or race is. In the US, people are saying they are a different race than they actually are which ends up blowing up in their face, especially politically and socially. Because a lady named Rachael Dolezal is falsely claiming she is black when proven white, society believes she is “mentally ill” and taking it too far as a chosen performance.

In this document analysis I chose, was about Elizabeth Springs who was an indentured servant in Maryland who wrote a letter to her father who lived in England. She writes to her father stating that she hopes that she could come back home, and that she forgives him for all the wrong he had done. She explains to him that she is living miserably day and night and being treated like an animal. The beat and rape her. Her lack of not eating, not having much clothing, or shoes, she feels like she is being mistreated worse than black people.
Don’t even get me started on the American food industry! The american food industry is one of the only food industries in the whole wide world that favors money over the health of its citizens. The food that most Americans eat is processed crap, if you can even call it food! How many of you have eaten popcorn, chips, candy, or crackers in the last week? The amount of chemicals in the food we eat as a country on a daily basis is freaking ridiculous.
Rachael Ray has made a large impact on home cooking in a variety of ways. In the beginning, Ray began with her cooking show, where she light heartedly demonstrated cooking shortcuts that made a difference in thousands of kitchens. By teaching 30 Minute Meals and handy shortcuts, more people were able to take a shorter amount of time to prepare a home cooked meal for their family. Because her show became so famous, the Food Network created other programs for her to star in: $40 a Day, Inside Dish and Rachael Ray's Tasty Travels. Rachael Ray also is the author of several popular cookbooks.
