1. What is the map trying to communicate? This map is trying to help the pilots and aeronautical controllers to plan takeoff, landings, and normal flight patterns in the form of navigation. This map looks to distinguish certain fields in the air which specify the flying zones and certain aircrafts which have the permission to fly in the zone. Not only does this map show the rules and guidelines for the air, this map shows the ground aspects surrounding airports as well as different elevations which is important for pilots. The elevation is important as it can tell pilots which height is a safe height for the duration of the flight in a certain area. 2. What is its purpose? Data display, analysis, reference, navigation? This chart represents …show more content…
Each color has a specific meaning as well as the type of line used and the small numbers located around the map. Each part of the map is something different which helps a trained eye easily depict different aspects needed to control the planes or help the pilots land safely with cargo or passengers. The interesting aspect with this map, is that not only does it show aspects needed for normal flights we would go on, this map also shows specific routes for the government as well as other organizations such as NASA. These differentiations are clearly labeled on the map with writing and shown by in the legend which areas these planes would fall …show more content…
The map projection would be most likely classified as Lambert conformal conic projection. This projection is very common in the aeronautic field as it allows for pilots and air traffic controllers to create great circles for the planes to fly to their destination safely. 6. Who made the map? Are they reputable? Why or why not? These aeronautical maps are created by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This is a very trustworthy source as this administration a government organization whose primary focus is safe transportation in the United States. This primary goal of this administration is to create specific maps so that air traffic controllers and pilots have all the information needed to conduct a flight. For this reason, if the FAA mess up on one of the charts this would cause a catastrophe in the air. Due to this, The FAA one of the, if not the, most reputable source for aeronautical maps. 7. What is the source data? Is it
