Achieving freedom was the desire and goal that colonists and revolutionaries pursued throughout the Revolutionary War and many believed was a god given right to man. When the U.S. joined the war, its contribution to the Allies made a major impact, both militarily and economically, during and even
“Man is free at the moment he wishes to be. ”(Voltaire). Many of us have grown up in a world that is fairly free and haven’t really gotten oppressed or anything like that. Now this hasn’t always been true. Many people used to get oppressed and treated badly because of their race, religion and even just because of what social class they were born into.

In Harrison Bergeron it shows that the government doesn’t allow you to make a choice for yourself, they downgrade citizens to the point where they don't have the ability to make their own choices, they control their citizens by using handicaps, and different items to conceal the attractiveness of different people, for everyone to feel equal. “They were equal every which way. One of these factors is the restriction of people’s nature of freedom by cruel authorities through the idea of colonialism.
