Beowulf, one of the oldest stories in the world, fighting off a monster, his mother, and a mighty dragon. Whereas, The Thirteenth Warrior a loosely written version of the tale of Beowulf, fought off monsters and their mother. The two had similar storylines, and components, but also differed in many ways. In the poem, Beowulf, a tale of fifteen men fighting off an ugly monster, Grendel, and eventually his mother, the She Witch. Before Grendel attacks, Beowulf, his men, and the people of Herot partied, drank and were very noisy. They did this to get Grendel's attention, to lure him in. During the battle, Beowulf wounds Grendel by ripping his arm off, which makes him return home to his mother. The whole town of Herot celebrates more, for the injuring of Grendel. During the town's celebration, the she witch becomes very angry when she sees the state that her poor son is in. She gets very angry, and while the people of Herot are sleeping, she comes down to kill some of the men as revenge. Beowulf eventually kills both Grendel and his mother, and the town celebrates once more. The two, Beowulf and Buliwyf end up killing the antagonist, the monster’s mother in which they cut off her head. In the film and the poem, Buliwyf and Beowulf lay the mothers to their death in their home, a cave.
