We see government corruption everyday around the world. But not everyone is able to understand how bad it is and how it is affecting us negatively. Government corruption is not something to ignore. It’s important to make sure that others are not blind to the abuse that we face from the government everyday. People like George Orwell found that important as well.
George Orwell conveys government corruption in his dystopian novel 1984 to show it was a current issue.
In the novel, there’s a lot of evidence of misinformation. The government in the book 1984 burns books, tells lies to their people, and even brainwashes their citizens. This is very similar to how our society is today. On page 103, the book says, ”Every record has been destroyed or …show more content…

Everything we post online is saved and stays forever. “He thought of the telescreen with its never-sleeping ear. They could spy upon you night and day, but if you kept your head you could still outwit them. With all their cleverness they had never mastered the secret of finding out what another human being was thinking.” (Orwell 111)
George Orwell invented the idea of the telescreen. It’s very similar to our phones. The government is able to track what we’re saying on our phones. When you say something that they

don’t like it can put you on a list so you’ll be watched more closely than others. Our phone calls can be easily accessed as well. Even though the privacy issue is way more severe in the book
1984, it doesn’t mean that ours is not a relevant issue. “Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was safer, though, as he well knew, even a back can be revealing.” (Orwell 5) This shows that you can’t even be yourself. In the novel, anything that is unorthodox is not ok and can get you killed. In Iran, Mahsa Amini got killed for not wearing a hijab. Her not wearing a hijab wasn’t what the government wanted which is what led her to being killed. This sparked
