Since Ms. Johnson allowed her private life to affect her duties as an officer by engaging in sexual relations with another officer while attending a training conference, which was paid for by the City of Laverkin, she was punished. Rhetorical Précis In her rhetorical essay “From Fly-Girls to Bitches and Hos” (1999), Wesleyan University graduate and feminist Joan Morgan claims that if a man cannot love himself, than he is incapable of loving women in a healthy matter, and it is up to women of color and the African American community to change these threads. Morgan supports her claim using ethos by questioning artists such as B.I.G and their aggressive lyrics, with logos by providing statistics from the U.S Census Bureau in regards to the decrease of the number of black two parent household, and also with pathos by providing a personal example of her family friend. Morgan is hoping to improve the music industry by examining hip hop and rap lyrics in order to raise awareness instead of censoring the industry. Morgan's tone is disdainful, concerned and disappointed in order to establish credibility with her audience, which consist of women of color, feminist, and hip hop artist.

It is never okay to reference rape on national TV in any context. It doesn’t matter what Knight meant to say, as there will be many people offended by that kind of language watching from all over the country. However, these comments were made when Knight was asked in reference to referees making poor calls during Hoosier games. With Knight immediately saying not to take it out of context, it could be fair to assume that he meant to not take the comments

Caesar Augustus was and still is titled as "the greatest emperor of Rome to ever live." He lived from 63 BC to 14 AD. In 27 BC, the Senate gave him the name Augustus, which means divine, and that's where his title originated from. There are countless things he has done that prove how he was and still can be called the greatest ruler of all time. He was the first emperor of Rome; he reigned for 41 years and avenged Julius Caesar's, a.k.a.
The late 19th century was a monumental era for the city of Paris. As the city kept growing and increasing in popularity around the globe, the city itself was being modernized from its dated medieval layout. These modernizations had a direct impact on the culture of the city, the lifestyles of its inhabitants, and the prominence of the city across the world. Paris’ inhabitants were as social as ever, and often enjoyed themselves at cafés and bars. This modernization acted as a perfect catalyst to support the surging wave of capitalism across Western Europe.
Within the past year, the treatment and perceptions of women have been challenged due to the various marches and movements. Nathaniel Hawthorne’s romance, The Scarlet Letter, presents how women were viewed in a Puritan society, falling into a rigid dichotomy of either being the “saint” or “sinner.” This is otherwise known as the “Madonna/Whore complex,” which is explored through the life of the novel’s protagonist, Hyster Prynne. Her struggles and experiences through this dichotomy ultimately affect her both physically and emotionally as it represses her femininity.
The story that got my attention was Boys on the Side. It 's really sad that this young generation has this sexual liberation, that make them look like prostitutes. I was surprise how the Argentina girl in the story describe the American girls from the hook up culture their sexual freedom. " Here in America the girls they give up their mouth, their ass, their ass, their tits. The girls from the hook up culture don 't have any self respect for their body.
In 2005, college student Andrea Constad filed a lawsuit of sexual assault against Bill Cosby. In a legal deposition, he gave graphic, predatory accounts of having sex with her and many other young women. He casually described his encounters while defending himself. The court transcript reveals that in the early 2000’s, his relationship with Constad started after he spotted her on the campus of Temple University. The feminist movement has been trying to prove to the world that women and men are created equal. During the 1960s, the civil rights movement also began, and Ken Kesey had the same opinion about both these issues as most white men. In One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ken Kesey implies a misogynistic stance by showing women will abuse their authority if they do not live their lives to please men, and that a woman’s natural place in the world is to be used by men. There are very few women in this novel. The most prominent woman in the novel is Nurse Ratched.
Timothy Shay Arthur’s “Ten Nights in a Bar-Room” is a novel filled with unfortunate events that change the lives of many families. It illustrates the lives of a few men, who were once proper gentlemen, but transformed into undesirable people due to intemperance. Their stories demonstrate how destructive alcohol was to their lives, not only for them, but for their families as well. One of the characters that immediately caught my attention was Joe Morgan. Joe went from being an enviable father and husband, and even Mr. Slade’s former business partner, to the town drunk and an absent father.
Many audiences of stand up comedy enjoy hearing their favorite comedian entertain them. But what would one think when a comedian cracks a joke about a sensitive topic, for example, a tragedy that affected hundreds of people. Some may argue that, comedians are not supposed to overstep the boundary of controversial jokes. These controversial jokes are linked with political correctness—which is used to describe language, policies, and measures that are taken to avoid offense to certain groups of people. Comedians are not compelled to restrain from controversial topics due to the topic not being sugar-coated, the higher level of contemplation that the joke can reach, and the job of the comedian—to make the current issue manageable.
Over the years there have been many controversial ethical issues which are still debated in the 21st century. In today’s modern society one such controversial issue is prostitution. Prostitution can be defined as “The act or practice of engaging in sexual intercourse for money” (Deigh, 2010, p.29). Prostitution is the oldest profession of all.
