In the story “2BRO2B” by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. there is an image that comes to mind. A utopian society, “where all diseases were conquered, including old age, and that death was only for the adventurous”(Vonnegut 88). However, this could only be farther from the truth, in reality it can be seen as a dystopian society by some. “One Bright Morning in the Chicago Lying-in Hospital, an man named Edward K. Wehling Jr., waited for is wife to give birth”(Vonnegut 88). Edward was living in a society where the average age was a hundred and twenty-five. Not many people were born into the world anymore, due to the curing of old age. If someone were to have a child like Mr. Wehling someone must give up there live in order for the new life to come into existence. It should be the most exciting day of Mr. Wehlings life, however it is probably one of his worst. “The law said that no new born child could survive unless the parents of the child could find someone who would volunteer to die”(Vonnegut 92).
