Almost everyone in the world can say they recognize the name of “Dr. Seuss,” the author of The Butter Battle Book. His clever use of many different variants of satirical devices makes his work truly irreplaceable. He has many more classics, many even more infamous than The Butter Battle Book, such as Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, and Green Eggs and Ham. The use of parody and reversal in his works really leaves a unique mark in them. Seuss is also very good at using hyperbole very effectively.

“If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers.” -Doug Larson. Most students would agree that college is difficult. Classes are more involved and studying is more important than ever. Imagine being a 17 year old African American kid always being judged just because of his skin color. Everywhere you go you feel like all eyes are on you, especially when you go to a school that only has eight black kids. That's exactly how Justyce McAllister felt in Dear Martin by Nic Stone. In the book, the main character Justyce goes through a lot of conflict involving his skin color. Even though he has a full scholarship at Braselton Preparatory Academy, and is a very smart student, he still gets judged.
About five years ago while I was attending high school in the ninth grade, my teacher really exerted my classmates and I into reading novels, short stories and chapter books. We read books such as, Tuck Everlasting, The Outsiders and Frederick Douglas. Until this day, out of every book I have ever read in my so far, so short life time; The Outsiders was my all time favorite. The setting in this story was mostly the streets, hang out spots and night life areas.

During summer while other kids were outside having fun, i was indoors with my AC on reading different kind of books because of a soccer injury i had. If it wasn 't for that injury i don 't think i would of ever gotten a book on my own. It all started with an injury to a book that became the book that kept me going to find more books to read. The book is called " A Child Called It: One Child 's Courage to Survive" by David Pelzer. Before this i thought all books were boring but this one totally changed my mind.
When my father was a child, my grandmother bought him Dr. Seuss books. Every night my grandma would read to my father. Once my father knew how to read, he would read stories to my grandma. He traded the Dr. Seuss books in for a series of books that held various fairytales. When my father went to college he kept the Dr. Seuss and fairytale books.
Do you read the book and compare it to the movie, or do you watch the movie and compare it to the book? I have read and watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone more times than I can count. The book allows you to accomplish your creative side and use your imagination to feel the places as well as the scenes. You can develop an image in your mind of what you predict a character will look like and how they will sound. There is no dissatisfactory acting so you can imagine it the way you want, anywhere you want.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban truly accentuates time and clocks, which is very fitting since Book 3 will presumably be recognized as the Harry Potter book with the time travel. One of my favorite memories growing up is how much time I spent reading. Whenever I got a new book I couldn 't put it down. I remember that I would always read on the bus ride home. The theme in my book don’t give up has a positive effect on today teenagers. For instance teenagers that don 't give up on school work, they will have good grades and get scholarships. The teenagers that study and work hard and don’t give up have a good life after there school years. These students usually have money and other good things in life. Furthermore, the students that give up and quit school they usually end up in jail, and make minimum wage at McDonald’s.
