I chose to watch 3rd Rock from the Sun Season 1, Episode 4 "Dick Is from Mars, Sally Is from Venus" mainly because I find great humor in 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Dick, who portrays the father, but is the commander of the team is focused on his family fitting in with the rest of the world, but does not know how to accomplish this. His latest focus is the world of dating as well as how to appear to be a family and loving father. Although not shown it is implied that Dean Sumners is annoyed with Dick for parking in his assigned spot. Dick did not appear concerned as he stated the spot is closer than his. Even though the show is mainly filmed inside, there are some scenes filmed at what appears to be a lookout point over the city. Even though the show does have a few scenes outdoors it is still considered single-camera shots. As with a lot of shows in the 1990’s 3rd Rock from the Sun was filmed before a live studio audience. Sally dresses the part of a woman who is trying to impress her date, but she does not know how to act. Dick tries to give advice, but it is not the best advice to give Sally. After going on the date, which Sally thought was great; her date did not call as he stated he would. This showed a humorous approach to a woman’s perspective on how that affects them. After agonizing over why her date did not call Dick employs the help of Mary Albright and Nina to help Sally realize why Brad did not call.
