1. Dick is motivated by many things that one can profile as a murderer. He is not only extremely vain, but he is extremely greedy. Due to his complicated life, he most likely struggles with depression. Not only was he once in jail, but he is lustful, still in love with his first wife, explaining he was “nuts about Carol. Still am. There’s a real princess”, and in debt; all of these things lead to extreme stress (218). He has a great talent of being able to lie to anyone about anything, causing it to be very easy to devise intricate lies and being able to find short term solutions to problems that are very complex. Dick is a perfect reflection of a psychopath: he acts as though he has normal emotions, and is very charming, but he can turn around and commit vicious crimes without feeling any empathy.
Perry is very different from Dick, as he suffers primarily from anxiety and bipolar disorder. He is worrying constantly, and often reflecting on past events and the effects they could have. He can have a constant pursuit of one specific emotion, but can easily swing to something such as fury.
