As you relax on the sofa to catch your breath, you glance at the magazine lying on your table. A specific article catches your attention. In the Reader’s digest an article is written in the advice column by Andy Simmons; “Benefits of being Messy: 7 reasons It’s Better to Be a Slob.” This piques your interest and stems a feeling of excitement in your mind. But what is a slob? According to most definitions, a slob is a lazy and slovenly person. You may feel more inclined to believe the article in your exhausted state, but logically, is what the article stating fully accurate and beneficial advice? For one, the article suggests that in order to easily style one’s hair and to lock in the essential oils the scalp produces; one should avoid showering every day. This point appears quite ironic. It is common knowledge that if one wants to keep his hair healthy, he should cleanse his hair lightly every night to get rid of all the bacteria and germs he came into contact with throughout the day. Just like the teeth and the body have a natural buildup of bacteria and germs, so to our hair would have the same tendency. There are many instances throughout the day that exposes one to bacteria and germs; for example, shopping carts, steering wheels, school desks and public restrooms are all crawling with germs that must be washed off. Perhaps, a more logical approach would be to take a shower every night and wash the hair to get rid of the bacteria, but to also purchase natural oils such as rosemary and tea tree oils so the hair will have the essential oil it needs to remain
