As I got older, I started to focus more on science being that my High School had concentrations for students interested in the medical field. I followed this false dream until I got into my sophomore year of college. This is when I made the choice of changing my major from Health Science to English. When I came home and explained to my mom about my plans, her first words were “I always thought you would either be into English or Journalism because you always loved to write.” This made me feel so good about my decision because it made me feel that she
Being a part of The National Honors Society is something that I’ve strived for ever since hearing about the program a few years ago. This organization does many great things for society, and I would be honored to be apart of it. In order to be a part of this organization, a student must possess qualities which include academics, service, leadership, and character. These are the qualities that I have aimed to show throughout my high school career. I believe that as a member of the National Honors Society, I could improve my life and who I am as a person, along with contributing to the organization.
When I think of my best accomplishment the verse from James 3:5 sticks to me. " A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire". Being a part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Club (BCA) for five years at my school and president for the last three has been a journey that I can 't quite put into words. I remember joining the club as a young eighth grader wanting to learn more and do what I could to help as I saw my aunt struggle with it.
Ever since my grandmother died with lymphoma, I have been very interested in biology because I want to find a cure for cancer. Before going into biology, I did not think that biology involved math skills, however, it did not take me long to learn that it is very important to have a good understanding in math to do well in a science course. As I began to exceed in math, I began opening doors to other career options that involved math. Also math has influenced me to look at life from a different perspective, a more mathematical
I have gone to school in Elcho my whole life. Elcho has given me countless chances to participate in everything. As a current member of student council, Students against destructive decisions ( SADD), Forensics, Cheerleading, and Golf, I value these opportunities. Extra curricular activities have taught me to be responsible, work with a team, and untimely made my highschool career one to remember. Being so involved in high school has forced me to be responsible.
I live in a small neighborhood in a white suburb with different economic levels spread throughout. We moved there from Austin when was five to help my dad with his new business, he joined his dad. My grandfather way back started a trucking company co-owned and operated by my dad. We moved to Richmond to get close to his truck lot in EL Campo by my grandparents’ house. This move was the basis of my children, by starting school in this new Town in suburbia.
Science never ceases to amaze me. The complexity of life is completely beyond my grasp and that is why I intend to major in Biology. As for math- something about numbers soothes me and I ashamed to say I thoroughly enjoy doing my math homework. For years, I’ve had a longing to do research involving Sport Stacking.
I am great at solving problems and that I think is why I enjoy math and science the most. In science and math classes there are clear problems that need factual answers. Problem solving is my strengths when it comes to academics. Also through sports and activities outside of school,
I am a very enthusiastic person and it is an academic goal to continue learning to show my enthusiasm at the right time and answer questions at the right time. I have an academic goal to continue to have good listening in class. Math is my favorite class and I have an academic goal to keep doing better and better in math. To continue to improve my grades from progressing to independent is a goal of mine.
In addition to liking math and science, it fits well into the medical career I wish to possess later on in life. I am going to take anatomy, AP physics II and Ap calculus because I deduced that they would interest me and help prepare me for a future in medicine. Also, I will take AP government and AP US history
Waking up every morning to go to school was my favorite time of the day. As a Hispanic child living in the outskirts of Dodge City, the bus ride felt like a road trip to an English speaking world. Going to school was so fun for me as a kid, as I would learn new things my parents couldn’t teach me because of their background. For example, I learned to speak English. It was a challenge to learn how to communicate with my teachers and acquaintances.
I have become a dedicated member to a lot of different activities and have held an officer position in each since sophomore year. Through these groups I have, completed multiple different community service projects including out of state service trips, planned a childhood cancer awareness night, and even started a National Honor Society Relay for Life team. I have become dedicated to learning more about high risk behavior prevention and finding new ways to give back to my community and beyond. I am proud of the work I have done for these groups and the people that I have met and helped while in a leadership position. I have developed my leadership skills and learned so much about myself as a person.
I like to do everything in the right way, so to doing so I normally get that thing wrong first. I really like sports, I like watching, playing and discussing about sports. I also like physics and math. I have some goals that are very related to my next five years. They also helped me to choose my college fit.
My top priority is to make an impact that affects others internal and external for the rest of their life in a positive way. My academic and extracurricular activities mark me and make me who am I today they are equally important and extra activities are what I looked forward to throughout the day of school. Since I was a kid I always thought about being a singer but I couldn’t sing. Later when I was old enough to figure out my career path I felt that I was wanted to do anything in criminal justice.
Being a part of advanced placement classes in middle school, I expected loads of difficult work to come my way once I entered Fenway High School. These advanced classes prepared me well to succeed in high school. Although I took these higher classes, I was never good at math. Math was my worst subject because I did not like dealing with numbers. I am a history and science type of student, I prefer learning these subjects rather than math.
