A young man drifting through life without knowing where he belongs ,this is the true story of Christopher McCandless. In 1996 Jon Krakauer wrote Into the Wild a true story of a man who traveled across the Western United States seeking adventure. I decided to read this book because of how unbelievable the story's plot was within still claiming of being a true story. Other survival books I have read, such as The Road by Cormac McCarthy also steered me towards reading this book as also being a story about surviving the unbearable. This is the first book I have read by Jon Krakauer, but i am looking forward to reading more of his books in the future. Christopher McCandless grew up in the suburbs of Virginia. He graduated from college in May 1990 from Emory University. Soon after graduation McCandless slowly strayed away from his family. They soon realized that he had given away his college fund of roughly $25,000 to charity and has disappeared. In this scene McCandless is talking to Franz, an old friend of his about traveling to San Diego by himself. "You don't need to worry about me. I have a college education. I'm not destitute.
