In the book Into The Wild by John Krakauer, Chris McCandless decide to leave his old life behind and start over. When he left without saying anything to his family it made it easier for him to leave and focus on his new life. McCandless being unhappy, his parents, & his wanting to find himself were some of the main reasons why he decided to leave without saying anything. McCandless was unhappy with the lifestyle he was going towards. McCandless was raised in a wealthy family and he had all the opportunities that came with that. He was a bright student and had a bright future ahead of him. But McCandless felt like he needed to experience life in a different way. He wanted to live a simple life and experience nature. McCandless felt like he was living in a world that wasn't really living and he needed to get away from the materialism and greed that was all around him.
