Christopher McCandless’s was a young wise man and stubborn guy that was intelligent he knew the right answers to respond which got himself out of things but also got himself into difficult situations that were not processed right. McCandless was raised in a upper middle class family in Annandale Virginia by parents Walt and Billie. He had eight siblings which one he was super close to named Carine and the rest were half siblings from his dads first marriage. Growing up Chris had a rough childhood with his parents problems and the affairs they had. McCandless would question himself why people would treat each other bad he would try to make a sense of the world. Chris attended Emory university in Atlanta he graduated in June 1990 with honors. His parents thought chris was interested to go in law school instead he donates $25,000 savings to charity and is where he begins his adventure by getting rid of everything changing his name to Alex putting his money on fire and all important documents. This explains to us that the only thing that would keep him from starving is by a book about plants, in which later on when he was in Alaska and was slowly dying of starvation he accidently took the wrong plant that was wild sweet pea instead of taking that plant he was suppose to eat a wild potato which researchers think that was attributed to his death. According to the article “How Chris McCandless Died” it says “ in this article I speculated that McCandless had mistakenly consumed the seeds of the wild sweet pea, Hedysarum mackenzii a plant thought to be toxic” (Krakauer The New Yorker 4). In making this comment, researchers argue that the cause of his death was of starvation and eating the wrong plant which he thought resembled the wild potato and also he was brainless off reading of a book of plants that was supposedly preparing him from
