Gregory was 19 when he got the injustice that wasn’t deserved. Gregory's life was very difficult starting at a young age, his parents divorced and he’s had to take care of his alcoholic mother the most of his life. Gregory was forced to drop out of school to support his mother as well as for himself. On January 2nd, 1991, Gregory had tried to get in contact with his mother, Catherine who he had to try to get in contact with for a couple of days now… It was then when Gregory drove to her place to find her dead bloodied body in a locked bathroom where he called 911.

The downfall started when the police officers assigned to the crime scene focused their attentions on Gregory. Gregory’s mother, Catherine, had told many people that she felt threatened and scared for her life due to Gregory’s actions. Even though there …show more content…

A little more than two years later, Gregory’s trial began… During the trial, the jury took in consideration all of the witnesses statements regarding the things Catherine said especially about the belief that Gregory might kill her, where the statements that were untrue were sadly admitted. The closest thing to evidence were tapes played showing that Gregory and his friends were playing dark music with the lyrics “ Kill ur fckin mother”

On March 25, 1994, Gregory was granted bail after his appeal of conviction, even though he was found of murder that rested on only circumstantial evidence. Gregory had support from the whole community where 300 people signed a petition stating that Gregory is still welcomed and nothing should be worried about. Two years later, the Newfoundland Court of Appeal agreed that Gregory’s conviction was a huge mistake and based on the three huge errors that the trial judge made they ended Gregory’s conviction and made a new
