In her Ted Talk, Margaret Heffernan presents an organization that moves away from the traditional bureaucratic system and into one that has developed into a, “culture of caring” (Kirst-Ashman, 2011, pp. 242). As a result of this, workers will feel connected and supportive of each other; thus goals will see a higher level of achievement. Heffernan (2015) explains that, “It means that what happens between people really counts, because in groups that are highly attuned and sensitive to each other, ideas can flow and grow. People don’t get stuck. They don’t waste energy down dead ends” (para. 7). Letting individuals form a bond allows trust and emotional bonding to occur. As a result, people will take pride in their work; striving to work harder to accomplish their objectives. Kirst-Ashman (2011) explains that employees are, “Motivated to work hard and learn new skills, not because management orders them to, but because they have a genuine desire to do so,” (pp.242).
