James K. Baxter a figure who utilised his talent of poetry in an attempt to implement messages in to the poem, ‘A Bucket of Blood for a Dollar’. Baxter used his poetry to convey across his personal perspectives about war, politics, and power to the reader. Baxter communicates his ideas and opinions through stories about soldiers, politicians and the morals which New Zealand and also the United States of America cluster, this bringing more emphasis towards the message making it much more powerful. A message which is presented repeatedly through the poem is the idea that ‘war is corrupt’, that politicians and high authorities factor money much higher then the value of a life. In the poem, a discussion takes place between Keith Holyoake who represents
