For as long as I can remember, I have possessed a desire to help people, especially those who are less fortunate than me. This trait along with life experiences are what drew me to want to pursue a career in social work. I want to be available to provide support to people when they have nowhere else to turn.
My experiences in social work have taught me to celebrate the small victories just as much as the big. I look forward to gaining skills and knowledge that will assist me with becoming a successful social worker. I love the versatility of the field and that it allows me to work in many different dimensions. They were poverty-stricken, which then cause them to turn to illegal activities. Due to the lack of opportunities and support, they were not able to positively transition into adulthood, nor did they learn how to become successful adults. These experiences definitely contributed to my interest in becoming a social worker. With my passion and patience, I know that I can make a difference in a child's life.
In addition to working with at risk youth I am currently employed with Butterfly Effects.
This company serves children diagnosed with Autism and other learning disabilities. The joy and rewarding feeling that I have received from interacting with children has made me want to continue working with children when I become a social worker. Children in our community should be growing, learning, and thriving every day. As a professional, it is my personal responsibility to help cultivate the community that they live in. Children are the future and I believe that interventions and social programs will award all children the best opportunity to flourish.
