James Patterson’s book, Maximum Ride, is quite the journey. It is a sensational and conflicting story that definitely the reader intrigued. It is about six young kids who finally escaped from a lab where they were experimented on and were brought there after being kidnapped. The six kids are; Max, who has the leader role in the group, Fang, Iggy, Gasman, Angel and Nudge. They have grown up together and are on the mission to find their parents.

This is a common theme in many of award-winning author, Neal Shusterman’s novels, such as Full Tilt and Everlost. The novel Full Tilt is about an anxious teenaged boy named Blake who has to go through seven rides, all relating to his fears and past experiences, so that he can survive a paranormal amusement park. Everlost is about two teens, Nick and Allie, who die in a car crash and are sent to a place in-between the afterlife and real life, called Everlost. Though very different in subject, Shusterman uses the same literary techniques to show that it is his writing, and to move the plot forward and express the themes he wants to showcase.
This hits especially close to home for Doug because his brother, Lucas, has recently returned home missing both of his legs. Suddenly, Doug sees Coach in a whole new way; he views Coach as someone who has many gruesome experiences he struggles with. Doug wants Coach to help Lucas, who is dealing with his own burdens of war, but Coach always brushes off his requests. Finally, one day outside the library, Coach Reed says to Lucas, “‘Maybe you could come work for me’,” (Schmidt pg. 337). This influences Doug indirectly because Lucas now has a job, making him feel purposeful, and the money Lucas makes is going towards Doug’s future college education.
Have you ever wondered how an older brother feels about the younger one? For example, in Tangerine, a novel by Edward Bloor, the main character Paul, had feared his older brother, Erik, for his entire life. In the book, Erik is described as a selfish character that didn’t care for Paul in the very least. Just the opposite, Erik often likes to make choices that would make Paul feel bad. Erik’s choices have caused Paul to be blind, made him think himself as a coward, and weakened the friendships between Paul and Joey.

Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, focuses on a boy named Cole who doesn’t care about anything and does whatever he wants. He ends up beating up a fellow student and goes to jail for it, but has a chance to get out by going to an island to “change” for the better. In fact he does end up changing for the better and overcomes some of his big challenges.
The settings of a family which has a negative effect on family and boys. Mainly what the characters are inclined to do against each other, the dysfunctional family life and the one parent family. The story has increased my knowledge about gangs and the impact on boys, that positivity of one person is better than the adversity of a gang. The author Scott Monk message to boys is being in a gang, especially a criminal gang is a futile, it is informative in regards that boys can do positive things in their life, that the need to turn their back on gangs and violence.
How does the main character change? The teenagers go to court and could go to jail. The main charicters change because at the begining they were reckless and foolish.at the end they are vety scard and worried. Conflict - What is the major conflict that develops throughout the novel?

In the novel Look Both Ways by Jason Reynolds. is about a few different people that have conflicts and they all are taking place at the same time of the same day. Bryson is at school and he is having a normal day. Then all of a sudden he starts hearing about what happened to his friend Ty.
L. Andrew Cooper and Brandy Ball Blake are analytical when explaining the origins of monsters and how every monster ever told in a tall tale or written in a novel, represents good or bad omens. All of the monsters described were analyzed in depth but left the door open to questions about how monsters have changed over the past hundred years. For example, monsters told in stories by the elderly hundreds of years ago were warnings about the dangers that could occur when tampering with nature or with gods. In Greek mythology, almost all stories that talked about mortals, demigods, and monsters, sent a message to the empire of Greece to respect and obey the gods in order for the god to have mercy on them. For example, the story of Arachne the weaver and Athena explained how challenging a god could end in a fatal decision.
The Terrors of Youth There are many memories that may come to mind when someone speaks the word of adolescence. Some people recall times of gratification and innocent adventures, but for others the phrase “teenage years” holds horrific memories. For a section of the populace their “teen experiences” may be the most appalling time period, as they begin to undergo many changes. This concept of dark adolescence is present not only in the real world, but in the literary world as well.
There was not quite enough descriptive adjectives used to describe the characters in the novel and often left the reader feeling left out or confused. In this quote “Before they got into their parents’ cars, Sam and Coop asked ben if he wanted them to come over once they got out of their gear. ”(p 103) there is little to no emotion given from the characters Sam and Coop even though they just lost their important football game it leaves the reader feeling like they didn’t care instead of being disappointed which they were a few paragraphs before. The main protagonist Ben is described as being 11 years old short and respectful but the cognitive process of the child is matched to one of an adult. In the Main conflict Ben helps Shawn become a better quarterback despite wanting to be the starting quarterback and this is often quite unrealistic because at that age most kids are more worried and focused on themselves and would rarely go the extra mile for others while at the same time giving himself a disadvantage.
Setting out on a summer adventure of fun, sun and girls is all that’s on seventeen-year-old boys Theo, Bill, Mark and Ryan’s minds…well there are thoughts of college and future dreams too. Meeting Kylee, Jamie and Michelle is more than a summer dream come true. However, the first night, which showed promises of exciting fun, turned into a nightmarish tragedy, as it seems the world, has been destroyed except the island they were vacationing on. Focus becomes survival after “The Event” and the future of the now named Atlantic Island and the power and control in the hands of Mayor Lucas and Deputy Mayor Tiberius… Thrilling doesn’t begin to describe Fredric’s epic teenage science fiction end time apocalyptic tale.
Being on the island everyone is contsantly faced with the fear of the unknown the younger boys need someone to protect them from the fears on the island. Although nothing manages to scare the boys as much as the beastie does. When a little boy with a mullberry birthmark informs everyone that he has seen a beastie. The older boys emitiatly belive its his imagination but even later in the novel the boys start to question the exsitance of the beast. After the killing of simion, jack is belives ut was simon disguised as the beast, and that the beast is not dead.
(Golding, 77). Although the boys laugh at Simon’s idea, his belief conforms Golding’s idea that inner evil exists. The boys develop into the beast when they kill Simon. Simon was desperate to explain the unidentified creature on the mountain but the boys weren’t in the mood for listening to him. With his brutal murder by the other boys, chaos takes over civilized order on the island.
