We need to know how and why it is important to conserve earth, and understand what it offers. In the book A Conservationist Manifesto (2009), Scott Russel Sanders explains why it is important to be in touch with nature, and how it will take us farther than technology: Russel Sanders comments on the same issues, “It is plain that earth cannot support for much longer the extravagant way of life so common in rich countries” (6). What Sanders is trying to convey is that we are wasting the resources that nature has let us borrow to survive, and losing the appreciation towards nature. Earth is not going to be able to keep up with our technological advances for much longer. Technology to the capitol was what made their lives functional. Districts are forced to enter games, while the capitol being so advanced has the ability to control what they will encounter. The districts are then introduced and the training schedule is presented, Katniss struggles to master the gadgets because she was not familiar with such advanced things, but she referred to her natural instinct and mastered the practices. The capitol was able to control weather, disasters, and obstacles in the game. Although the capital could not control what nature had to offer and how the players were able to benefit from it. Weapons, gadgets, and necessities were placed in the beginning of the game.
