In Island Packet’s article “How plastic almost killed this Lowcountry sea turtle” by Delayna Earley, readers are informed about the discovery of a dead sea turtle that was recently treated at the South Carolina Aquarium in Charleston, South Carolina. The image is effective in responding to the rhetorical situation in which plastic debris are proven to be harmful to marine life and so articles like Earley’s are written to inform others about how damaging plastic is. The exigence of the article is about how plastic pollution is harmful for the ocean. Throughout the years, there has been an increase in the advocacy being mindful of plastic waste and on using less plastic materials.
First of all, the elements are so similar from these two poems that if the reader did not know any better, that person might say the same author constructed each poem. A very easily seen element would be the word choice in the two poems. Throughout each poem, the reader may pick up on words that are used in thein them. It might not be the exact same word; however, Holden may use the same wordings as Carroll does. One example that may have stood out to the reader would be the adjectives used to describe the setting.
Their rhyme structures differ, but their forms, on the page, are almost identical. Both of these poems include imagery and figurative language, along with sound devices. Although there are many differences between these two gifted authors, similarities can be discovered as well. The background of Walt Whitman is enormously different from that of Emily Dickinson. Because Walt Whitman was such an under privileged kid and rose from his struggle in avery romantic life style, we see this slight bit of romanticism in his writing, like when he says, “ But O heart! heart! heart!/O the bleeding drops of red,/Where on the deck my Captain lies,/Fallen cold and dead” (Whitman).
“Annabel Lee” and “The Raven” are similar because they both have the same mood and topic; however the two poems are different because the speaker felt differently about both of his lost girls. In the poem “Annabel Lee” and “The Raven” the mood is sad. In the poem “Annabel Lee” it states, “ In her sculpture there by the sea /

Obviously the development of producing plastic went to quick and people did not think of a unified and sustainable way of how to dispose the huge amount of plastic. Unfortunately many countries decided to dispose all the garbage into the ocean but also ship accidents are a reason why so much plastic accumulated in our ocean. Every year more than eight million tons of plastic waste leak into the ocean. A big issue nowadays is that most of the plastic which is produced in one year is used to make disposable items of packaging or other short lived products that are discarded within a year (Philosophical Transactions of The Royal Society, 2009).
Turning twenty-one years old puts a person in a position to be universally regarded as an adult. Both Samuel Johnson in his poem, To Sir John Lade, on His Coming of Age, and A.E Housman’s, When I was One and Twenty, recollect memories when they once dealt with this adamant yet subtle time in their lives briskly unaware of the troublesome times that lied ahead. The writers’ use of provoking details, vivid imagery and a hint of irony, create a visually appealing description regarding the stubborn new adults, while both speakers recall and account their own experiences. The difference in perspectives of both of the poems that hold a lot of weight to the reader.
Everyday people buy plastic things from the cafeteria, from plastic containers, lids on cups, and things as small as straws, and like 50% of plastic used it will be thrown away after one use. However, do you ever stop and think, what happens to the plastic? If you’re thinking that it just magically goes away you 're wrong. It will most likely end up in a landfill somewhere or in the ocean, and as you may think that your actions do not impact the world, think again. Everyone in the world has at least used one piece of plastic, adding to the problem of plastic pollution and helping certifying the terrifying statisticc that acooording to the 2018 Earth day video, “by 2050 there will more plastic in the ocean than fish”, which almost is impossible to think of.

The top countries most responsible for the plastic pollution issue are as following, China, The Philippines, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Egypt, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Bangladesh. What are we gonna do about it? Switch bag materials or don 't even provide bags just make the people bring their own bags and then they can continue to reuse them and then we won 't have the issue of plastic ending up in the ocean. Innocent animals we haven 't even discovered yet are dying because people can 't walk 10 feet to a trash can.
Look around, and try to find an everyday object that is not made out of plastic. You should find only a few. Plastic takes up more than 75% of our everyday items… And humans are facing the pollution that plastic is causing to the earth. There isn 't a realistic solution to this, because plastic is used in automobile tires, and also is used in electronic devices, silicon etc.
Pollution is the introduction or release of substances or energy that decrease the quality of the marine environment. Many pollutants are toxic of harmful to marine life (Castro and Huber, 2010). South Africa is known around the world for being one of the most diverse marine environment in the world, with 83% of the known fish families residing in South Africa (Van der Elst, 2007). There are also many marine species that are endemic to South Africa, which means they are only found in South Africa. Almost 30% of the South African population lives on the coastline (Taljaard et al. 2006), which has led to the urbanization of the coastlines and which then led to the industrialization of these areas.
“Report to Wordsworth” by Boey Kim Cheng and “Lament” by Gillian Clarke are the two poems I am exploring in this essay, specifically on how the common theme of human destruction of nature is presented. In “Report to Wordsworth”, Cheng explores the damage of nature caused by humans and man’s reckless attitude towards this. In “Lament”, the idea of the damage of oceans from the Gulf War is explored. In “Report to Wordsworth”, Boey Kim Cheng explores the theme of human destruction of nature as a response to William Wordsworth, an romantic poet who celebrated nature’s beauty in his poetry.
