In the short story “A girl With Only 2 Arms And 2 Legs” By Stuart Baum, A girl named Quarta “struggled to fit in socially” in school because she was different than everyone else. She had only 2 arms and 2 legs while everyone else had 4 arms and 4 legs. The common theme that others could learn from in this story is to “Give people a chance, and don’t make assumptions.” Example of this theme are shown throughout the story. For example, in the beginning of the story, at recess, when all of the other kids were playing the game, 2 balls and 2 sticks, the other kids wouldn’t allow Quarta to play. They assumed that she wasn’t capable of catching 2 balls and 2 sticks, with only 2 arms and legs. Well, I think they should at least let her try, because how are you supposed to know if she can or not. Another time that they didn’t give her a chance was, when all of the kids were 13 and going on dates, Quarta was the only one left out. Nobody gave her a chance, because “she was too different to be considered a girlfriend by any of the boys” according to the story That’s not very nice because what you look like on the outside doesn't always gage the way you are on the inside. The only reason that she needed special permission was because they didn’t know if she could keep up with the others. Quarta went on the field trip and proved that she was able to keep up. In addition, while the class was on the field trip, Kako, Quarta’s classmate, wondered off and got into trouble. Kako was missing somewhere and Quarta volunteered to go find him and help him. According to the story when she said she could help find him, “The teacher asked two other students to follow her to make sure she didn’t also get lost or in trouble.” So, what the author was saying was she did not trust her at
