I have read a very interesting poem about the nuclear protest written by Bob Dylan, “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.” This poem is very articulate and somewhat entertaining. Although this poem may be dark it has a lot of meanings to it. Each line is a whole new story and the song really doesn’t make sense logically, but it does when you think about it. You will immediately see that the story is depressing when you read it, but read it again and you will understand it more. Every stanza in the song has the part when Bob Dylan asks his “blue eyed” son and his “darling young one.” I believe that the reason he used “blue eyed” maybe is because it means a well respected person. I wonder why Bob Dylan was asking the blue-eyed people so many questions. Since this poem is about the nuclear protest, maybe he was worried about his “family.” The first stanza is talking about where he has been. All of the places seem depressing except the mountains. The whole thing seems horrible, but some lines caught my eye. The newborn baby with wolves around it reminds me of Jungle Book and doesn’t seem that bad. The black branch with blood on makes me think of the slaves that have been beaten and the men holding bloody hammers connects with line five. The white ladder covered with water seems like white men and the water must mean something else. This song is kind of like a poem about depressing things like war and death. The rain falling is like sadness falling, and hard rain falling is like very severe sadness, like
