Do you think brierley is an explorer In the excerpt from A Long Way Home, by Saroo Brierley. Brierley got lost at a young age at a train station in his hometown. Years later he used his computer to find home. Some people think that Brierley is an explorer and some think that he isn’t. Brierley is not an explorer because he only traveled to one place, Brierley used his computer instead of going on foot ,and he only went on an emotional and intellectual quest. Firstly Brierley only traveled to one place, in the text it states on page (422) “I have found my hometown.” Then it states it was nearly five years since Brierley had downloaded google earth. In the text it states on page (422) it had taken eight months of research on his computer. This shows that he only used his computer for research and didn't go on foot. Not only did he go on his computer for research but he didn’t go on foot, which means he didn’t leave home. For an explorer to be an explorer you have to go on foot. Thirdly Brierley only went on an emotional and intellectual quest, in the text it states on page(413) “Seeing it almost as an intellectual challenge as an emotional quest I threw myself to solving it.” However if he threw himself to a quest he would go on foot. This shows that his quest isn't physical. This proves that Brierley is not an explorer. Some people say that Brierley is an explorer because he looked for his family. However Brierley is not an explorer because he didn’t go on a quest he didn’t go on foot. If you're going on a quest you travel on foot not online.
