Lysander-“The course of true love never did run smooth”- Line 136
This line represents one of the main themes in this act, Love. This line explains that love is hard and with true love many crazy things can happen.
Helena-“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is wing’d cupid printed blind”- Line 238-239
This also adds to the theme love. This line basically says that love doesn’t make sense. Love is blind and that the mind, not the eyes, is what falls in love.
Quince-“Marry, our play is, the mostentable comedy, and most cruel death of Pyramus and Thisby” -line 11-12
This line is important because it talks about the play in which they will be putting on for the wedding

This shows how much Helena actually loves Demetrius.
Lysander-“Not Hermia but Helena I love”-Line 112
Lysander falls in love with Helena because of the magic potion. This represents the theme of love as unreasonable and uncontrollable.
Hermia- “Methought a serpent eat my heart away” –line148
Hermia dreaming that she had her heart eaten by a serpent foreshadows what will happen to her feelings once she knows that Lysander now hates her and is in love with Helena.
Titania- “On the first view to say, to swear, I love thee” –Line 133
The fact that Titania had fallen in love so easily with the potion shows that love is
