The speaker of this inspirational speech was Stephen Colbert. This speaker was giving a commencement speech at Northwestern University which I watched on YouTube. Stephen Colbert speaks to the graduating class that there is no way to plan for what life has in store for you. Along with his speech he includes jokes, analogies, and stories from his life making it more relatable. Stephen explains how you need to change things you are not happy with while you still can. Life is something you can change for yourself and if you are willing to that you will be much happier. He uses funny stories and jokes like “break up with her you idiot, haven't you noticed that she's nicer to the dog”. I feel like this helps the speech sound more relatable because it makes the audience picture what he is using to make his point. He uses many hand gestures which makes it sound more exciting. The voice of the speaker really put emphasis on what the speaker is trying got convey. A sense of emotion is used and lets the audience understand how he feels about what he’s saying. The organization also played a big part in the speech because it started off funny and ended on a good serious note. Hearing this speech was interesting because it showed me how well a speech can sound just by the way you tell it. If you put yourself into the speech then the audience will get more out of it because you yourself seem interested in it.
