In every generation, children can inherit many of their parents' possessions, whether those are physical or emotional possessions. In the short story “A Secret Lost in the Water” by Roch Carrier, a farmer states that “nowadays fathers aren’t able to pass on anything to the next generation.” However, with effort from both sides, parents can pass down many things to their children. This includes possessions such as culture, skills that help shape children's character and beliefs, and language. To begin, parents can pass down their culture to their children. One way they do this is by passing down traditional recipes. Many families have specific days when they cook food together.
