The article, “The Help," author of the book's racial viewpoint,” talks about how Stockett herself says that she knows everything isn’t one hundred percent accurate and knows she got some facts and details wrong.“The Help” is not a reliable source because it was written by a white woman that was growing up towards the end of the sixties and likely does not remember her early childhood very well. Although she herself was raised by a maid, she doesn’t know how it feels to be one and the experiences her childhood maid had. The text reads, “‘When I grew up, we did not talk about race. I'm still not entirely comfortable with what I've written. And I know I didn't get it all right, but it's so important for people to explore what it must feel like to be in someone else's shoes.’" Katheryn Stockett is saying in the quote that she didn’t feel comfortable talking about race when she was growing up and she wants people to feel as if they’re in someone else's shoes, but she can’t speak for the help as she was never a maid.
