This short story “A White Heron”, by Sarah Orne Jewett, is an excellent example of local color because of its realism, where the dialogue and the use of details in the story mark it as particular to a time and place. The author shows you how the nature can be a better friend than a mankind. That is why I like it. Also, it reminds me a lot of things. When I was a little boy, I grew up in a farm with my family, my brothers and I used to hunt for birds, killed them and eat. We never had in own mind how beautiful the nature would be with those birds, we were trying to kill. I love birds, especially in the morning when they sing. After I finish to read the story, I ask God for forgiveness for all what I have done to the birds, I feel like my heart
