The novel, A Wrinkle In Time, written by Madeleine L’engle, is a story about Meg Murry, her brother, Charles Wallace, and their friend, Calvin. Meg, the main character, lost her father when she was young, but she still believes he is out there somewhere. Together, they travel through the universe to find her father. They face many obstacles and challenges to figure out where her father is. Throughout their adventures they meet new people, such as Mrs. Whatsit, to help them through their journey. The Mrs. W’s are very advantageous in the novel and provide the characters with important items to benefit them on their journey. With help from the other characters, Meg conquers her fears and accomplishes the journey. The setting throughout the novel was always changing. The characters traveled through the universe and through time. They spent most of the time on different planets such as Earth and the Happy Medium Planet. This choice of setting is very important to the story. The setting has a huge significance because as it changes, the plot of the story shifts and more problems occur. If the setting was somewhere else such as, Earth, the plot would be totally different. Meg, Charles, and Calvin wouldn’t meet characters such as, Mrs. Which. If Meg never went to any of the planets she would have never found her father or had any of these bitter sweet experiences.
