In the beginning of the book, A Wrinkle In Time by McDougal Littell, Meg’s tone is upset. First, Meg is upset as she explains to Calvin that after a while the letters from Meg's Dad just stopped. Meg states, “Nothing happened...That’s the trouble” (WIT). This upsets Meg because she fears something bad has happened to her father. Next, Meg is upset again as she tells Calvin that her family hasn't gotten a letter from their Dad in a long time. Meg says, “‘No, ... Nothing.’ Her voice was heavy with misery” (WIT). Meg is upset by this because they haven’t heard from her Dad in months, maybe even years.
