ASMSA is the right place for me. If I am invited to attend ASMSA, I will be living, studying, and working with students from across Arkansas with different backgrounds that have interests and hobbies similar to my own. I will be taking accelerated courses provided by outstanding teachers at one of the nation’s top schools, and many of these courses align perfectly with my interests and career prospects. I will also have a new community of learning that I will be able to contribute to in multiple ways. The first reason ASMSA is the place for me to live, study, and work at is the community and environment. I love being a nerd. However, many people do not realize that I am a nerd when they first meet me. Many of them say their first thoughts of me include the phrase “big dumb football player”, but then they get to know me and realize that I am actually a giant nerd. Being a nerd just means that I love a lot of things that the typical person does not even think about. Sure, I love “normal things” like football, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends, but that is only the tip of my interest iceberg. As a nerd, I can love a multitude of other things that are not necessarily normal. Some of my main interests that would be considered nerdy include debate team, chess, video games, comic books, video game-related youtube videos, and superhero movies. I have debate practice at least once a week, and I go to debate tournaments as often as I can. I play chess for anywhere from ten minutes to an hour a day everyday. I play video games every day, such as call of duty and madden. One day, I hope to have a career that involves designing video games. I go to Comic Con every year to buy comic books and read them in my spare time. Typically, I watch fifteen minutes to an hour of video game-related youtube videos every day. I can also be seen in line waiting for the first showtime of whatever the newest Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or other superhero movie comes out.
