In the article “How prosecutors proved former NFL player Aaron Hernandez guilty of murder” it explains how former NFL player Aaron Hernandez faces a first degree murder charge for the death of Odin Lloyd. This gruesome event occurred on the 17th of June, 2013, in a quaint Massachusetts town. Hernandez had preceding connections with Lloyd due to the fact that he was dating Hernandez’s fiancée’s sister and like Hernandez, also played football (for the New England Football League). The night Odin Lloyd was killed the two exchanged text messages later evaluated on Hernandez’s phone. Lloyd seemed muddled throughout the late night conversation. Around nine p.m. Hernandez initiated the conversation and later told Lloyd he could pick him up. surveillance footage showed Hernandez held true to his word. Lloyd piled into the car along with two of Hernandez’s acquaintances, Ernest Wallace and Carlos Ortiz. During this time Lloyd had texted his sister “Did you see who I am with?” and when his sister asked who, his short reply was “NFL”, followed by the last text of his life “Just so you know.” These messages between Odin Lloyd and his sister were later dismissed in court for lack of evidence that claimed Lloyd feared his life was in danger. Video evidence from another surveillance camera showed a car driving nearby in an industrial area and within minutes retracing the same path and driving out of sight. It is believed that during this time Hernandez and his colleagues shot and killed victim Odin Lloyd seven times with gunshot wounds to the face.
