Abercrombie and Fitch is a clothing retailer designed for making casual clothes for young people. Even though Abercrombie and Fitch serves all races, this company rarely lets any other race serve as models in the store due to the”white look, “ or blond-haired and blue-eyed look. Because of this unfairness, many victims of the racial problems with Abercrombie and Fitch are filing lawsuits against this racist company with modeling policies strictly for young white people. Although Abercrombie and Fitch is a successful company, they are unfair, they lie, and they are still discriminatory about race. When an employee was recruited, they were given a handbook about the store and its rules. However, some of the rules were not followed and forgotten. For instance, The New York Times states,“In a guidebook distributed to employees, the ‘Abercrombie Look Book,’ the company states: ‘America is diverse, and we want diversity in our stores. We do not discriminate and will not tolerate discrimination in hiring based on race, national origin, religion, color, sex, age, or disability.’ Even though the guidebook, which is given to every employee, says it will not discriminate against any race, many other races have been lied to and unfairly treated. In addition, according to The New York Times, “Juancarlos Gomez-Montejano, who worked in sales at an Abercrombie in Santa Monica, said that after a corporate official visited his store, he and four other minority sales workers were terminated, told that the staff was too large. A few weeks later, he said, the store hired five white fraternity members from U.C.L.A.” If the staff for the Abercrombie store was too full, then there would be no reason to hire five new staff members. That means that the corporate official lied to the five kicked out staff members. Also, the guidebook stated that discrimination against race was not tolerated, yet the corporate official obviously discriminated against minorities.
