Jonae Josephs Research Paper- A block Lizzie Borden was born on July 19 of 1860 to Andrew Jackson Borden and Sarah Anthony Borden. Lizzie’s biological mother, Sarah, died of uterine congestion and spinal disease in 1863. Following Sarah’s death, Lizzie’s father married Abby Durfee Gray, who became Lizzie and Emma Borden’s stepmother. The case of Lizzie Borden and the axe murders of father and stepmother was one of the most popular around the time that it happened and one that is still popular to this day and age.
On August 4, 1892, Lizzie Borden was accused of killing her dad and stepmom. On this day, this it would go down as one of America’s biggest and mysterious murders of all time. Many trials and accusations were brought on to Lizzie Borden. The name “Lizzie Borden” would be etched in American murder history. Further on, this day and Lizzie Borden’s life will be revealed in this essay.
Isabella Baumfree, now known as Sojourner Truth, was born into slavery in 1797, though her birthdate was not recorded. Isabella Baumfree protested when John Dumont , Isabella Baumfree 's previous owner whom she ran away from, sold her son, Peter, to a family in Alabama. Two white lawyers, whom we don 't know the name of, in New York gave Baumfree free legal help and liberated Peter through the courts. Sojourner Truth moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1857 and became active there helping black people escape on the Underground Railroad to freedom.
She had been trained in her earlier years by her mother to be a healer, which included working with herbs and native plants of the area. It is through this practice, many people hired her to help cure them, other family members, animals, and also to drive of bad curses. She earned a reputation for helping others but was also seen as a danger to the community. She had the knowledge through her books and power of her healing skills which was not very typical of the average women of this time era.

They lived a happy and normal life until the unexpected death of their mother, Sarah Borden. Three years later Andrew Borden was remarried to Abby Durfee Gray.
