Characters are an important part of any play, and even in life. John Proctor and Abigail Williams are one the most important characters in both "The Crucible" and The Salem Witch trials. However, Arthur Miller slightly changes the characters to fit the parts in "The Crucible". In the play, Arthur Miller describes John in the stage directions saying “Procter was a farmer in his
In The Crucible, many of the characters were slightly altered from the original Salem Witch Trials to make the story more interesting. Abigail Williams was one of those characters. She has several changes, some major, some minor, but they affect the story in a big way. While there are many differences, there are also some historically accurate things about her thrown in as well.
Although Abigail Williams does not physically appear in Act 2, her presence is felt throughout The Crucible. She affects and hurts the lives of her family. She is the main source of trouble. If she wants something, she'll get it. At the beginning, there is a lot of closeness between her and the proctor family.
Throughout the Crucible there are good characters, bad characters, and characters that are innocent. In this film and play the crucible a 17 year old girl Abigail Williams is jealous of Elizabeth Proctor for having the love of her life John Proctor so her jealousy takes over and she drinks a blood charm to kill Elizabeth Proctor. Abiligals envy and wrath for John Proctor is a disastrous for herself,John Proctor, and the little town of salem. In Abigail's jealousy she destroyed and ruined the man she so called loved name. She caused all of that hurt and angier on the town of salem just because John Proctor loved Elizabeth instead of her.
In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Abigail Williams and John Proctor are known to have had an adulterous affair with one another. Even though both John Proctor and Abigail are worthy of blame for their actions, Abigail is the most culpable of the two. In The Crucible, Abigail is the most to blame because of her “tempting” Proctor to carrying out the act more. During Act 1, Abigail is shown to keep egging on Proctor although he does not want to have the affair with her anymore.
During the time of the salem witch trials and the late 1980’s-1990’s during baseball's Steroid Era were two different things, but they also had one thing in common the hysteria that was brought by both of these. In the witch trials there were many of people dying and in baseball there was various amounts of people getting suspended and their chances at the hall of fame forever destroyed. Many of people know about the Salem Witch Trials as one of the most moments and years of hysteria. During this time there were many of people wrongly executed. During the 1950’s a man wrote a book called The Crucible.
Abigail Williams: The Conniving Woman of the Crucible The Salem Witch Trials began in Salem Massachusetts in 1629. Many people were accused of being a witch and many lives were lost. In Author Miller’s The Crucible, Abigail Williams is the most to blame for the events of the Salem Witch Trials. Abigail is one of the main characters in the play.
In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller we explore many themes around the relationships between characters. One that really stuck out to me was the relationship between Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams. Lust in jealousy will only end up hurting you in the end. This is true for Abigail because she did evil things to try to break Elizabeth and her husband (John Proctor) up. In the end she doesn't get the guy and has to flee Salem to keep from having to face her punishment for lying.
By looking at The Crucible, one can see that Abigail Williams develops the theme of reputation, which is important because people who fear losing their reputation spread hysteria. She only wants John Proctor and to take Elizabeth Proctor’s spot. She is so evil that she risked innocent people’s life over a
Abigail williams and others are responsible for the horrible things that happened in the “the Crucible” but Abigail williams is the main reason everything happened. She was one of the leaders who started the whole situation and did nothing to stop it once it got out of hand. All though others contributed , Abigail was the main leader. She wanted John Proctor, who had an affair with her, and said they should stop see each other in that kind of relationship. She was willing to do anything to keep him, even witchcraft.
Abigail The Victim In the Crucible many are to blame for the events that occurred, but one of the one’s who seems to take blame the most is Abigail Williams. She holds most of the responsibility because she was to blame for the girls meeting with Tituba in the woods. When Parris located the girls in the woods, Abigail tries to hide her behavior because she fears that it will uncover her affair with Proctor if she confesses that she attempted to cast a spell on his wife, Elizabeth. Abigail also lies to avoid being punished for witchcraft.
Abigail Williams, the main antagonist of the play, uses her sharp wit and manipulative personality in order to gain power through causing hysteria and chaos in a restrictive 17th century Salem environment. The attention Abigail draws to herself through the accusations made in the witch trials generate a great source of power for her, when Abigail and John Proctor, of whom previously had an affair have a conversation regarding the witch trials she says, “I have a sense for heat, John, and yours has drawn me to my window, and I have seen you looking up, burning in your loneliness. Do you tell me you’ve never looked up at my window?”(Miller 21). Through her relationship with John Proctor, Abigail gains power due to the fact that they share a mutual liking for each other and John is married to
In conclusion, the question is Cheerleading a sport? Well the definition of a sport is “an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.” Which at some levels of cheerleading it is a sport well there are some levels of cheerleading that is not a sport. If they are not competing against another team than cheerleading is just an activity however when you get into competitive cheerleading and All-Star Cheerleading there is no way you cannot call it a sport. So while cheerleaders are seaming, shouting, high flying on the sidelines cheering motivating the audience and player themselves at that moment they are not being a sport.

In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, the characters of Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams can be compared and contrasted through their personalities, motivations, and relationship.
