A group of girls control the whole village of Salem with their lies. In the story The Crucible, by Author Miller, many people begin losing their lives due to girls that crave to save their own. A seventeen year old girl by the name of Abigail Williams is the lead of all crazy witchcraft hysteria in Salem. Abigail Williams is the main cause for all witchcraft hysteria because of her threatening leadership and because of her revengeful accusations. First of all Abigail lead the whole group of girls into lying about what really happened in the forest the night before the hysteria started. Instead of the truth that they danced naked in the forest, she claimed that she had been taken over by Satan. She threatened the other girls that she would “Come to them [you] in the black of some terrible night and she would [I will] bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder them [you.”] Since the girls were threatened and scared of Abigail, they obeyed her and lied with her, being the cause of many executions. …show more content…

When John Proctor and Abigail got into an argument because he told her that he was through cheating on his wife with her, she used her power with the court to hurt him. She went to the court and told the judge that Elizabeth Proctor was haunting her and stabbed her in the stomach with a needle.
