Article’s of Confederation Essay Article’s of Confederation Essay There are many problems with our government system. The Article’s of Confederation are poor, there are differences between governments; and the country does not have a constitution. What is happening to the United States of America right now? There are multiple problems with the Article’s of Confederation.
During the establishment of the United States, the problems the founding fathers faced helped to form a constitution that is still followed to this day. Conditions of the country in the late 1700s and today are similar- debt, foreign threats, and unhappy people. But if the government today were to face a problem big enough to wreck the country, the United States would not be able to survive. It would not be possible to re-establish the government due to a divide among the people, the lack of dominant leaders, and the condition that the government is in.
The company's stock would go down more and more because the company would lose money. Therefore, people would lose money and they would lose their homes and jobs. Also, bank failures happened and innocent people would lose money if they put their money in that bank. A lot of people became homeless because of this scenario. The Stock Market Crash had a significant impact on how Herbert Hoover’s presidency played out.
The Primary objective of all leaders should be to control citizens. A society that allows authority to be challenged will never succeed. This source depicts an authoritarian or totalitarian view of what a governing body should look like. The author suggests that the primary objective of government should be the “control of the citizens”, and therefore that the individuals should entirely obey said government.
In this essay written by Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson announces the separation of the thirteen colonies from Great Britain because of their controlling manner over their freedoms and life itself. Throughout his statement, Jefferson begins to mention the start of the nation’s new start and how no man should have to be completely controlled by their government or treated differently when every man should secure all their given rights as a human being. Jefferson then went on to explain that when a government becomes destructive or harmful to it’s people, the people should then completely abolish the government or find a way to alter it to create a new fresh government that is for it’s people, not against.
According to the article, “Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania” (1790), the Act for the Gradual Abolition of Slavery was passed on March 1, 1780. It was the first attempts to begin abolishing slavery. The given act forbidden further imported slaves into states and required slaveholders to regularly register slaves to establish any children born in Pennsylvania “free persons” regarding the specific conditions. Stated in the passage, African-Americans were able to vote but many whites preventing most. Unfortunately, they were unable to use their voting rights because whites did not allow it to happen.
Although the intention of the Articles of Confederation was to create a stable government for the 13 colonies, it was sadly designed poorly resulting in an overall ineffective government. The Articles may have been rewarded with some success with respect to western lands, but the overall effect was negative, especially the economic conditions. The economic conditions were primarily the most negative aspect of the Articles of Confederation. The inability to tax settlers caused the federal government to have a serious shortfall in revenue, and the restriction to regulate trade added to the chaos.
The Articles of Confederation also outlined the role of Congress. Congress had no role in executive functions, and they had extreme constraints on gaining power over the thirteenth colonies, as well as, making amendments to the Constitution. The Articles of Confederation had it’s share or failures and successes when it was first adopted by the governments. In the next part of my essay, I will discuss said failures and successes.
“This is how we use the constitution today, because the constitution is our government(Uhlmann)”. “If there was no constitution, then there is no United States, because our country wouldn’t work without a government(Uhlmann)”. This is how government impacts us
The leadership of the U.S would be strictly non-colored. Leaders such as President Obama, Tim Scott, or Shirley Chisholm would not exist. The white people would rule the government causing many great laws to go out the window. Such as the civil rights act of 1866, The enforcement act of 1871, or even the Twenty-fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Life as we know it would be different.
A lot of loneliness would be coursing through the communities; there would be no sense of unity between people. Less and less people would travel. Less people would experience other cultures. There would be a limited sharing of knowledge and ideas, and everyone would be left to their own devices. Thoreau says, “...I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life…”
Would Emerson 's ideas as expressed in this essay result in a stronger or weaker government? More or less democracy? a. His thoughts would result in a weaker government because it would have less democracy. Emerson would like all the people to become more independent because if they follow the rules, they will become a slave to the laws. His main idea here was to not abide by society’s ways because conforming to society would be submitting to the government, which sets the standards of beliefs and the behaviors of society.
The U.S 's first government was created on September 17, 1787 when the US Constitution was signed. This event brought together all 13 states by a unanimous vote. With this, our new government was formed, but now that we have this new system and much more freedom, what exactly is the purpose of our government? Is it to run our businesses? make treaties? or just to say that we have one?

The purpose of government is to keep strict order and to stop is citizens from hurting one another. An effective system of government protection it citizens. Thomas Paine essentially wrote Common Sense for the common man. Being a pamphlet, its structure and simplicity made reading easy for those who were literate. Its minimalism enabled citizens in the colonies to unite under one common cause — independence against Britain. He was inspired by both John Locke’s The Second Treatise of Government as well as Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s
