Abortion: Pro-Choice Women are in desperate need of our help as one of their rights is being taken away from them. Abortion is a right and choice that every woman should have but when Roe. V. Wade got overturned, it caused this right to go away. Regarding Abortion there are 2 types of people, Pro-Choice and Pro-Life. Being Pro-Choice means you believe women should have the choice to have an Abortion or to not have an Abortion. In life everyone should have a choice with what they want to do and this should include Abortions. Being Pro-Choice is very important because you are giving women their right to do what they want with their bodies. Pregnancy can be a scary subject especially when a woman gets pregnant unexpectedly. When you have a baby you need to be ready to take full responsibility for another human being and some women are not physically, financially, and/or mentally ready for that. Research from an article by NARAL says that, “Young women have even attempted suicide rather than disclose their unintended pregnancies.” (Young). There are women out there that would rather take their own life than follow through with their pregnancy and even speak out about it to friends and family. They feel so alone at this time in their life that they want it to end. Having an Abortion can save these scared women’s lives but with all this negative thinking relating to Abortions it puts these women at high risk. Medical reasons are another example of how Abortions protects lives. If a woman who is chronically ill gets pregnant unintentionally and follows through with the pregnancy, she is now putting her life and the baby's life in great danger. Most people have heard of Roe v. Wade already but to clarify this was a case that cut down several laws in Texas that negatively impacted Abortions. It has been around for over 50 years and protected a woman's right to choose if she wanted to have an Abortion or not. Suddenly, one day the court decided that they did not want to support this right of women and this led to them overturning it. Colette Davidson stated that, “For these women in the U.S. who were born with a right, and grew up knowing this was their right, to wake up one day and say ‘you can’t anymore’ is a gut-punch to morale.” (Davidson) Ms. Davidsons point in this quote is completely right. Roe v. Wade has been around for nearly 50 years, this means that for 50 years women have had a choice whether or not to get an Abortion. This right that women have had for a long time is suddenly taken away from them due to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Not every state has banned Abortions but a lot of them have followed through with the ban already. The choice of Abortion is so important to women and now this is slowly disappearing. Abortions need to be kept around to preserve a woman's right or else these women are going to live everyday in fear. The feeling of getting such an important right ripped away is sickening.
