Alexander Hamilton is on the $10 bill because he was the second commander in war with George Washington as the first. George Washington had chose Hamilton to be the treasury secretary. The states were in debt so Hamilton had a good system to get then out of it. He also came up with the idea of the national bank.
The world we live in today is filled with topics of controversy and the penny is just one of many. Some argue that the penny is useless and more trouble than it’s actually worth so we should abolish it. While it’s true that the penny can be a pain, it’s not true that the penny is useless. The penny helps Tennessee capitalize from zinc , was voted to stay in circulation by the majority of people, and commemorates the great Honest Abe. So those who argue that the world would be better without the low denomination coin just don’t know it’s
As stated in the text,”In truth, it is more than a coin—it is a piece of American culture.” Even though the penny has some culture, culture is nothing compared to losing money the losing money part is way more important than just being part of American culture. This shows how people can hold onto the smallest things for the dumbest reasons. Another thing stated in the text was,”Still, for many people, the penny's sentimental value remains the same.” Even though the penny may have some sentimental value the government is losing a ton of money minting new pennies because they cost more than they have in value.
Does Andrew Jackson Deserve to be on the 20-dollar bill? In my belief Andrew Jackson does not belong on the 20-dollar bill, due to the simple fact of that in 1836 Andrew Jackson tried over throwing the U.S national bank because he believed that hard currency like gold and sliver should be used. Andrew Jackson in some sense is an ironic placement on any paper currency in the United States. Although this topic is very controversial in the United States. I will try and clarify my belief about why Andrew Jacksons placement on the twenty dollar bill and why he should be reconsidered.
Pennies have been a huge part of our history, and has also had a big impact on us. The penny represents strong will, positivity and pure energy. Abraham Lincoln was the first historical figure to the US so that is why his face is on the penny. But the penny is destroying our economy.
Andrew Jackson This is a paper about Andrew Jackson being on the 20 dollar bill. The question I am going to answer is, should Andrew Jackson be on the 20 dollar bill? First of all, let 's talk about the characteristics someone needs to qualify to be put on U.S currency. I think, the person in question need to be honest, brave, a leader, and needs to fight for what they believe in. They can 't give up at the first sight of danger.
Think about it if Sam Adams was not there then what would have happened? Would there even be a rebellion for us to remember and look back at right now? if it did would it have had the same outcome? The second thing i would add to the monument is a torch in his other hand because he was one of the main people that sparked the rebellion that got them their freedom. It would symbolise the historical rebellion that was won and gained them their freedom.
It was given after the Civil War almost as a way to retsore the nation. In the speech Abraham starts off by saying “ Four score and seven years ago” which is significant because that was when the Declaration of Independence was signed and when the colonies gained their freedom fromGreat Britain. He then goes on to say that the founding fathers bulit the nation on liberty and equality for all men, but years later they are fighting to see if its true. He uses atlleration to honor the fallen soliders by saying, “The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract.” To conclude, Abraham Lincoln was a hero to many people but to others he was a man with a questionable motive.
One president, Abraham Lincoln, became a loyal client of Mathew Brady's. With the photograph "Abraham Lincoln, 1860" (as pictured below), Lincoln publically recognized Brady for the large part that he had played in his accomplishment to gain office. As such a client, Lincoln allowed Brady to photograph him several times which lead to the images that are now on the five dollar bill and the penny. Although he was a recognizable name in early 1861, Brady packed up his belongings along with a few photographers of his choice and decided to follow the Civil War. Brady, and his fellow
Andrew Jackson. Now, Andrew Jackson is the center of much argument. Many argue that he was a great president; others disagree. There is even a movement to remove his image from the twenty dollar bill, which has a figure with a likeness to him. And he earned the right, as others have before and after him, to have his face on a form of our currency.
Safire, William’s passage (Source C) spit straight fire saying that Lincoln would be “ashamed” to have his face on the penny, supporting the idea to get rid of the penny. America needs to make the decision to eradicate the penny. As we sit here waiting for something to be done; our streets, couches, and coffee pots are being engulfed with these ghostly coins. In Source A, Lewis questions if anyone can get rid of the penny.
Andrew Jackson has been remembered as a ground breaking president, even being put on the $20. President Jackson was a controversial figure, doing many popular and unpopular things in his time. Although he is remembered as a hero from the war of 1812, he also caused the Trail of Tears and tried to destroy the National Bank. As a result, Jackson should not be put on the $20 bill. His actions have caused many misfortune showing that villains do exist.
Also, the currency in the United States would be the same throughout. The Constitution says that it is authorized to collect taxes, pay debts and borrow money and Hamilton thought that a national bank would help out the government efficiently and strengthen its power. As a result of this, Hamilton had asked Congress to establish a national banking system, and it was later on that it was proposed because Congress was entitled to carry out the order. “...it was the springboard for a future U.S. economy based on private capital and the creative use of various forms of bank credit, including government debt” (minneapolisfed.org). On the contrary, Jefferson argued that the Constitution reserved all other powers to states and that Hamilton could not have a national bank because the federal government was not empowered to do so.
I chose to do my reflection on the Abraham Lincoln word picture. Mrs.Amendola exactly told us to choose one of the different designs of Abraham Lincoln and then to fill in the picture with a bunch of different facts about him. We also had the option to draw a picture of him and fill that in but I decided to just get one of the printed designs. The point of this assignment was to list or name facts about Abraham Lincoln in a fun/creative way.
Abraham Lincoln On a boring school day a few years ago, I read an informational passage about Abraham Lincoln and significant occasions in his life. He was the president of the United States of America beyond a century ago. Even though he was assassinated brutally before the day I was born, I would have loved to meet him. First of all, I would have enjoyed meeting him because he was an inspiring person.
