Through the horrible torture and humiliation that the victims endured at Abu Ghraib, Americans expressed their anger towards the Muslim race through abuse and torture. As ] we sit comfortable in our homes watching TV, playing video games, relaxing, there are people who are having severe pain inflicted upon them in prisons in the Middle East, one of the worst of these prisons being Abu Ghraib.
Abu Ghraib is a prison that is located on 280 acres of land twenty miles west of Baghdad that was shut down in April of 2014 (CNN). The CIA committed many acts of human rights violations in Abu Ghraib that included very inhuman methods of torture. Prior to 2003 the prison was used for detention purposes and did not have the level of inhuman acts going on as it did after 2003 till its close date. An Article 32 to put into simple terms is a court case that is based around asking witnesses questions (usmilitarylawyer). Karpinski was excused from this court case which raised suspicion. Most of the 372nd M.P Company pleaded the 5th amendment and did not attend the trial. Those who did, released some scary information. Specialist Matthew Wisdom, an M.P came forth and told the court what he had seen and done, he felt that he had a dirty conscious that he needed to clear. He came forth and testified this which is directly quoted “SFC Snider grabbed my prisoner and threw him into a pile. . . . I do not think it was right to put them in a pile. I saw SSG Frederick, SGT Davis and CPL Graner walking around the pile hitting the prisoners. I remember SSG Frederick hitting one prisoner in the side of its [sic] ribcage. The prisoner was no danger to SSG Frederick. . . . I left after that” (Newyorker). Matthew also testified “What I got is that SSG Frederick and CPL Graner were road M.P.s and were put in charge because they were civilian prison guards and had knowledge of how things were supposed to be run”
