Have you ever wondered about the hero Achilles? If you’ve heard about the “Achilles Heel?” Then we are dealing with the same concept, Achilles. As you may know, Achilles Heel wasn’t immortal like the rest of his body. As you read you will learn things about his family, powers, and some of the many adventures he had.
The first thing you will read about is his family. His father was Peleus, the one who accidentally killed his brother when his other brother Telamon (Hamilton). His mother was Thetis, and she was a sea nymph. She was the one who turned Achilles immortal (Hamilton). Achilles was supposed to marry the daughter of Agamemnon (Iphigenia), but she was killed (Hamilton). Next, you will learn about the powers and things Achilles had.
When Achilles was a little boy, his mother Thetis, held him over a divine fire, or more known as the Styx River (Cartwright). She dipped him in the river and turned him immortal, but there was one small problem. When she dipped him in, she didn’t cover all of his body and she left out his heel (Hamilton). Other than being immortal, Achilles didn’t really have powers, but he was very well trained in War Arts (Karas). Lastly, you’ll learn about the adventures that took place during his life.

From all the training he got when he was younger, the war arts paid off. When he got older, he fought in the Trojan War (Karas). He was very talented with fighting and combat so that’s how he succeeded in being in the war. After the Trojan War was over, he had to face Hector, the prince of Troy. He fought Hector and when he defeated him, he attached his lifeless body to the back of his chariot and drug him through the city of Troy (Karas). As he was leaving the city, he got ambushed and a poisonous arrow hit his heel and he eventually died. As you can conclude, he had a very adventurous
