1. In the first paragraph of the story, the imagery of the scene forecasts themes later developed. The reason being is that it talks about a rundown house on the edge of a ravine with an old man pacing nervously. It also talks about how the fat little old man did not look very clean cut and took care of. It forecast the themes because later on, we find out why the old guy lives where he does. We also learn why he is always pacing nervously and acting the way he does. 2. I believe that the author keeps repeating that the story of Wings’ hands is poetry material because of the story it tells. It tells of a school teacher just wanting to pass off his dreams to the students but a miss understanding with a parent kills his dreams. There is a lot of differences in a poem and in a story. I believe that the men of the Pennsylvania thought that Adolph Myers was a pedophile or something along the lines of that nature. The reason being is because he was “touching” the children. Even though it was not in a dirty way I could see why a parent would have a problem with it. They had such rabid reactions because that type of behavior (that they thought he was doing) is a serious thing and is not situation that is taken lightly. Although in this case the situation could and should have been handled very different. The significance of the rumors is that it is the start of his “hands” theory. He would touch his student’s hair as a way to carry a dream into the children’s young minds. But he now blames his hands for him being terrified of dreams. I think the first confrontation came from the saloon keeper because I believe that he was probably drunk at the time or he could have been stressed and aggravated with work. So he got a little mad and a little rowdy and decided to confront the teacher by beating him to death. At the moment I cannot think of a time that I experienced a situation like this, nor do I ever want to have
