This is a saxophone! The saxophone (also known as the sax) is part of a family of woodwind instruments. Saxophones are typically made out of brass and is played with a mouthpiece which to most people looks like that of a clarinet. The saxophone family was made by an instrument maker, who 's name is Adolphe Sax, in the year 1840. Adolphe Sax wanted to create a group of instruments that, “would be the most powerful and vocal of the woodwinds, and the most adaptive of the brass instruments” – Adolphe Sax, 1840.
