The hyper-selectivity means that the percentage of college graduates in an immigrant group is higher than the compatriots in the sending country and the natives in the host country. Differently, the hypo-selectivity means that the percentage of college graduates in an immigrant group is lower than the compatriots in the sending country and the natives in the host country.
