APPLICATIONS
The application of CNC comprises both for Non-machine tool and Machine tool fields.
Machine tool Group:-
In this group the CNC is widely used for Milling machine, lathe machine, drill press, laser, sheet-metal press working machine etc.
Non-Machine tool group:-
In this group the CNC applications includes welding machines (Arc & resistance), electronic assembly, tape laying and filament winding machines for composites etc.
ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS OF CNC
Some advantages of CNC are:
• Time required for production is less.
• Accuracy is high.
Manufacturing flexibility is greater.
• Contour machining (2 to 5 –axis machining)
• Reduction in human errors etc.

Some Drawbacks of CNC
• High equipment cost.
• Maintenance cost is high.
• Skilled programmer is required for operating CNC. Etc.

CNC milling machine is the most commonly used machine which is based on computer numerical control. Different types of milling machines and parts of CNC machine is discussed below.

MILLING MACHINE
Milling machine is a machine which is used to perform various operations like cutting and shaping of solid materials. Milling is most common process nowadays used in industries and in workshops for machining of different materials to precise sizes and shapes.
A milling machine can be a Horizontal or Vertical which depends over the orientation of the spindle. In the milling machines the movement of work-piece and the milling cutter can be controlled manually and cutting fluid
