Nurses work in many places such as Hospital, Nursing homes, in military camps during war. Most key figures of this career were mostly women but men were also included. They have skills that are used to help sick people or take care of them. Some postivite aspects of this job that can be useful learning how to take care of people or learn how to heal the wounded. Negative aspects such as stress can happen because of the job. Nursing is a hard job but it can be enjoyable as well too.

During her life she also devoted to looking after kids at the Howard Orphan Asylum for Black Children as director and National Chaplain. Susie Baker King Taylor was the first African American US Army Nurse in the Civil War. Beside being a nurse she was a laundrywoman and a teacher during the civil war. Mabel Staupers led battle to end racial prejudice in Nursing from 1890 to the late 1989. During that time medical aid was needed very badly during the Great Depression and WW2. There were even women who joined the army in the civil war as male nurses such Sarah Emma Edmondson who joined as Private Franklin Flint Thompson.
